Nepal aur Urdu Adab literary event organized by Pak Embassy

Kathmandu, August 12, 2022: The Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal organized a rare literary event titled “Nepal Aur Urdu Adab”.

The literary symposium was held at Hotel Aloft, Kathmandu on 12 August 2022, as part of the 75 th. Independence Year celebrations, says a press release issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.

Mr. Devendra Paudel, Minister of Education of Science and amp; Technology was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Mr. Ganga Prasad Uprety, Chancellor Nepal Academy too graced the literary event as Special Guest.

The event was attended by people from different strata of society including
politicians, serving and retired officials, intellectuals, social activists, journalists, writers as well as analysts.

The aim of the event was to highlight literary linkages between Pakistan and  Nepal and strengthen friendly relations particularly between both countries.

Famous poets of Nepal, Pakistan and UAE including Dr. Zubair Farooq, Dr. Saqib Harooni (President Sahitya Academy Nepal), Syed Khalid Mohsin, Mr. Sahar Mehmood, Mr. Imtiaz Wafa (President Urdu Academy Nepal), Mr. Jamshid Ansari, Mr. Furqan Faizi, Mr. Asad Kamran, Mr. Bhon Nistj, Ms. Shanti Sharma, Mr. Zafar Ahmed Alig  and Ms. Sangitha Pamgr participated in the event and won appreciation for their contributions.

During the event book, “Ahang-e-Himala” authored by Nepalese writer and poet Dr. Abdul Mubeen Khan, was also launched.

Chief Guest, Mr. Devendra Paudel, appreciated the efforts of Government of Pakistan in Education & Health Sectors and commended Pakistan Embassy for organizing the literary event which brought together Nepali  and Urdu speaking poets from both countries. Special Guest, Mr. Ganga Prasad Uprety, distributed the souvenirs among the poets/ poetesses and lauded the efforts of Pakistan Embassy for promoting the literature to bring closer both the countries.

H.E. Syed Haider Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, appreciated the laudable
contributions of all participating poets and writers. He highlighted Urdu’s role in bringing
together people from across regions and countries.

He also underlined the need for further deepening cooperative relationships between the literary bodies of the Nepal and Pakistan.
