What says UN on Rising dehumanization in India?

N. P. Upadhyaya, Kathmandu: Professor Subramaniam Swamy is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

Swamy is considered to be the real brain behind the Indian Prime Minister Modi’s heightened hatred against the Indian Muslims.

Last years’ designed change brought in haste in India’s occupied Kashmiri status, August 5/2019, was also believed to be Swamy’s clue.

Narendar Bhai Modi’s persistent hate for the Muslims came to the fore when he remained instrumental for the massacre of the Indian Muslims in Gujrat in the year 2002.

In late February, the northeast district in the national capital, Delhi, had seen communal riots break out and last for three days, which resulted in more than 50 deaths, writes Kairvy Grewal.

Remarkably, it was this time when the United States President Donald Trump was on India visit.

Indian Prime Minister Modi, reportedly a school dropout, is taken as a frightening Hindu political personality in the Arab world and also in South Asia.

The smaller countries of South Asia love to hate PM Modi for his “Neighborhood first” policy which in many more ways than one has already become a Himalayan flop for the reasons best known to the ever independent and sovereign Nepal and other regional nations.

India is at an undeclared war on Nepal at the moment.

Several Islamophobic Hindus working in the Muslim countries have of late either been sacked or deported to India for making unwarranted and damaging remarks against the Muslims/countries.

The Princess Hend of the United Arab Emirates was first to sound the Indian nationals to behave. Later other Muslim countries too began to take note of the Islamophobic attitude of both the Indian government and its Hindu nationals.

A Saudi Arabian senior journalist, Khalid Al-mina (Arab News) while talking recently to Arfa Khanam Sherwani of the WIRE (India) also has talked of the Indian hatred against the Muslims.
The former Saudi editor who worker for the last twenty five years says that the hatred against Islam in India will hit the country at some point in time.

Those who have apologized for their profane comments have been allowed to work in those affluent Muslim nations.

Several countries of the world had banned Modi’s travel to their countries as a mark of their protest against the ill-treatment meted out to the followers of Islam in Gujrat which is better known as the Gujrat massacre.

Modi then was the Chief Minister of Gujrat.

For Professor Subramanian Swamy, Hindu faith is the ultimate one and so are the followers of Hinduism.

His conviction of the Hindu supremacy to a greater extent matches with how Adolph Hitler took the German race then in the 1930s.

He naturally believes then in the hegemony of the Hindus over other religions. For Swamy the people who believe in Islam are the most inferior and so he bluntly says that the Muslims are not “equal citizens” of India.

Though the majority of the men who practice the Hindu faith inside the Indian republic, born 1947, which is now under the tight control of Hindu Prime Minister Modi do not subscribe to what Professor Swamy preaches openly.

However, it is altogether a different matter that Swamy who possesses great hatred for the Muslims has a Muslim nobleman as his Son-in law Mr. Nadeem Haidar.

To come to the point straight, the veteran and knowledgeable Journalist at the India’s Hindu daily Suhasini Swamy is married to a Muslim gentleman, Nadeem Haidar.

Former Harvard Professor (Economics) Dr. Swamy last month (April) while talking to the VICE journalist Isobel Yeung made some harsh and upsetting comments against the Indian Muslims and went to the extent to call the followers of Islam as,(sic) “We know where the Muslim population is large there is always trouble-because the Islamic ideology says so.”

What a derogatory language?

The Indian scholar did not stop here. He had so many wicked things still in store to tell Isobel Yeung-the journalist interviewing the arrogant Hindu leader.

Swamy when reminded by the interviewer that Article 14 of the Indian constitution ensured equal rights for everyone including the Indian Muslims, the BJP provocateur quipped that it was a misinterpretation of the Article, adding that “The law ensures equal rights (only) for the equals.”

Taken as a senior academician in India, Swamy thus emphasized that the Muslims were not equals to the dominant ruling Hindus and that this was the reality for the Muslims in India and they have now to reconcile with their fate what has been designed, as the inference would suggest, by the Hindu supremacists.

Lady Isobel Yeung, the VICE media woman was taken aback listening to the twisted and disparaging interpretations of the Indian Constitution presented to her but yet she dared to ask Professor Swamy, “If Muslims were not equal In India”?

Swamy responded saying that, “No, not all people are equal, Muslims do not fall into the equal category,” a perfectly composed S. Swamy shot his bullet back at the interviewer and that too with a cunning smile.

Perhaps learning all these nasty comments emanating from India and the state sponsored violence against the minority Indian Muslims in the Indian Union beginning this year (2020) appears to have prompted, better late than never, the UN organization to express its genuine “concern” over the recent happenings in India which have been taken well note of at the UN organization.
India’s increasing hate speech and the dehumanization of others which the UN official says “goes against international human rights norms and values.”

The United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng, is the one who has expressed his concern on UN’s behalf.

Adama Dieng states, May 20/2020 that the hate speech and the judgment against minorities (mainly the Muslims) that have increased in India more so after the “Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was adopted in December 2019, have alarmed the UN body.

Kairvy Grewal for the PRINT dated May 20/2020 writes that Dieng has also mentioned the name of Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy’s remarks, as already stated in the earlier paragraphs, wherein Swamy claimed that “all Indians are not equal” and that the “statements such as those expressed by MP Subramanian Swamy, were extremely alarming.

According to the UN adviser Dieng, “hate speech and the dehumanization of others goes against international human rights norms and values.”

But will the Indian government take Dieng’s concerns seriously? Perhaps not and the hatred against the minorities inside India shall continue as per the coercive approach taken against them.

In the meanwhile, Professor Swamy Swamy has hit back at Dieng’s assertion, in a tweet posted on May 19 wherein he says that “the UN official “slandered me in a press release in New York saying

I had said in an interview to a Pakistani owned TV channel that Muslims are not equal to Hindus in Indian Constitution. This is a blatant lie so I will take steps to sue.

The Indian scholar says that “I need practice so I will enjoy suing in court a United Nation official for defamatory lies.”

Fresh reports have it that Professor Swamy is to receive full support from the incumbent BJP President J. P. Nadda if and when Swamy files a case against the UN official Adama Dieng. That’s all.
