Nepal: Japan Development scholarship alumni to strengthen their ties

Kathmandu: On February 22, the social program of follow-up seminar of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) was held in Kathmandu.

The JDS, supported by the Government of Japan, has been offering two-year masters and three-year doctoral (PhD) courses at reputed Japanese universities to young Nepali government officials since 2016. More than 160 Nepali government officials have received the opportunity to study in Japan through this program.

After completion of their studies, JDS Fellows are expected to play an active role in planning and implementing Nepal’s social and economic development plans, as well as contributing to the expansion and enhancement of bilateral relations between Japan and Nepal.

On the occasion, Ambassador Kikuta congratulated the newly returned JDS Fellows on the successful completion of their studies and expressed his hope that all JDS Fellows will actively participate in organizing a JDS alumni group to strengthen the ties among JDS Fellows and contribute to the strengthening of cordial friendship between Japan and Nepal.
