Nepal-India unequal friendship and China’s blunder of 2015

N. P. Upadhyaya (Aryal)

Kathmandu: The Swedish Professor of Indian origin Ashok Swain writes in his recently posted Twitter account that “Indian Prime Minister Modi’s wife Jasodaben was kept in house arrest to prevent her from paying last respect to Modi’s mother after her death. The Indian media is silent.”

Very recently Modi’s mother left for her heavenly abode and as per Hindu ritual, the daughter-in-law of the deceased has to perform some traditional duties along with her husband and that is PM Modi.

We at this news portal condole her death and send our condolences to Indian Prime Minister Modi.

Mother is a Mother. Our last salute to PM Modi’s mother.

The fact is that, reports say, Modi abandoned his wife, Jasodaben, for some mysterious reasons which is not of our area of interest as the entire affair is a private one of Modi.

But yet question could be asked as to why the bonafide daughter-in-law was summarily denied to associate herself from the acts and duties that are demanded from a devout Hindu and a Hindu family as PM Modi claims for him?

Abandoning the legal consort for no reasons raises some questions and that too for a BJP devout Hindu.

Yet let’s give PM Modi the benefit of doubt. It is PM Modi’s strictly private affair indeed.

Having said so, yet the “why” remains intact? This is so only because he holds a very prestigious post of the Prime Minister of India-Nepal’s immediate southern neighbor.

Isn’t it a crime? It is as per Hindu rituals.

If the sitting Hindu Prime Minister of the nation acts against the “necessary and must Hindu social rituals ” then his administration must follow his, with malice to none, traits and thus what has been happening in contemporary India is perhaps the reflection of the chief executive of the Indian nation-Modi’s acts that goes against the Hindu traditions.

While writing this story on India and the Indian Prime Minister, we wish to announce that we neither possess any animosity against the Indian Prime Minister Modi nor against the Indian regime. We enjoy cordial ties with the people of India.

Albeit our expressions here are only against the atrocities and the oppressions against the minority Dalits and the Muslims.

Moreover, if India is authorized to talk nonsense every now and then against Nepali politics then we too must assert this right and retort back with equal force.

For example, as of now it is in Kathmandu’s political circuit that India is hell bent on toppling the Prachanda led new Nepal government under the pretext that it is a government with Beijing bent.

In essence, the Prachanda led government is excessively comfortable set up for India as Prachanda is the one who was provided shelter by the Indian regime during the India designed Nepal’s fake People’s War.

Some even claim that Prachanda from the very beginning of his political career in Nepal was being groomed secretly by India for his possible use to foment trouble and keep Nepal unstable for a long time to come and Prachanda while hibernating in India under the protection of the RAW agency devastated Nepal as per the Indian instructions which was there for all to see.

If so and it was so then how come Prachanda is a man with Beijing tilt?

Moreover, the man who made the “Delhi’s boy” the new Nepal Prime Minister is K. P. Oli whose Indian credentials remain no longer a secret in that Oli is the man who submitted the entire Mahakali River at a dirt cheap price to India in the mid-nineties and he is the same Oli who while being the sitting Nepal Prime Minister in the not so distant past allowed the Indian spy agency-RAW Chief Samanta Kumar Goyal to enter into his official residence not in the distant past.

In yet another Tweet dated 06 January 2023, the Swedish Professor Ashok Swain appears deliberately chasing the Hindu India wherein he puts on record that “A Dalit woman is being assaulted and removed from the temple (Hindu) premises in Bangalore, India”.

Isn’t it a crime in secular India controlled by a fanatic Hindutva gang? Why is the hatred against the Dalits and Muslims?

“Bulldozers have become a symbol of State oppression against the 200 million Muslims in India. Owing to the massive use of bulldozers to demolish Muslim properties in Uttar Pradesh, the State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been nicknamed ‘Bulldozer Baba”. (Fidato@tequieremos).

Hindu India’s main attack is on minority Muslims. Isn’t it a crime?

Tweeterati Fidato further writes that “In September 2021, 5000 destitute Muslims living in slums in Assam’s Darrang district were shunted out, their homes bulldozed under the supervision of area legislators with use of brute force by the BJP government in Assam. CM of Assam went on to congratulate the district administration”.

Isn’t it a state sponsored crime?

Back in our own memory in Nepal, the Indian regime has since its independence in 1947 imposed several inhumane economic blockades on the landlocked “traditional” neighbor on some flimsy pretext or the other and yet India is sacrosanct only because of its elephantine size.

Given the fake notion floated by India and its followers in Nepal that both the countries have “Roti, Beti relationship” but yet such coldhearted blockades?

It is a crime on the part of India to have committed in Nepal.

This does mean that the “center” of problems for Nepal lay inside the Indian soil. The list goes long.

India allows some hard core secessionists shelter in its soil and these divisive elements create panic and encourage the innocent population to go on for a demand of a separate state within sovereign Nepal and yet India is revered simply because India with its size has the authority to destabilize Nepal and the smaller South Asian neighbors who perchance differ with India on some issues and yet India must be held in respect and honor by those countries who have to follow Indian coercion or for that matter the Indian dictates?

India nursed the Nepal Maoists with utmost care and provided top class security and the Maoists were the most wanted guests of the Indian regime and the RAW spy machinery and the rebellions later devastated the basic infrastructure(s) of Nepal by residing in the Indian soil for all along a decade or so and yet India is a sacred country?

Any country that challenges India on some counts is a crime simply because India is big and thus the smaller nations must respect and honor India and must act as per the Indian instructions. This is unacceptable.

India has so far gulped some sixty thousand square kilometers of Nepali landmass across the country more so in the Western part of this nation and yet India wants that Nepal must bow down to its dictates and instructions and that too unconditionally simply because it is India which has been deputed the Policeman of South Asia by the Super Power USA.

Isn’t it an India’s criminal act? If so, by the same token can’t we in Nepal take India as the “Epicenter” of trouble for Nepal?

India has so far captured Nepal’s entire water resources and when Nepal asks in lieu for some support, India denies forwarding security reasons.

Nepal can’t be the lone giver if there is no reciprocity from India.

But the existing reality is that it is just a one-way affair. India takes every time but when it comes to giving Nepal, Indian reluctance could be seen.

The fresh reluctance has been noted on the issue of “providing an agreed upon air route” to the aircrafts, both national and international, to land in Bhairahava International Airport.

Sorry to say, Nepal is not only landlocked but in essence is India locked and hence, if India continues to ignore Nepali pleas, it would be an act of wisdom to “seal” the open border which has deliberately been kept open only for the benefit of the Indian nation.

Though it is a distant possibility.

It is this open border which has swelled Nepal with the Indian illegal immigrants who after a year of their stay in Nepal will contest the Nepal elections and swell the strength of the Indian nationals in the Nepali parliament.

Sources say that even as of now, we have two dozen plus of Indian nationals with dual citizenship certificates to have been inside the Nepali legislature who at times raise the issue of Nepal’s merger into the Indian Union.

Fear is that the open border phenomenon shall one fine morning, turn Nepal into a province of India a la Sikkim.
Sikkim to the best of our knowledge was an independent and a sovereign nation till the mid-seventies.

Madame Indira Gandhi’s ill intent gulped the sovereign nation for which the RAW agency was created by the inferiority complex ridden lady Prime Minister of India.

Indian hegemony in Nepal is increasing to the extent that the newly formed Prachanda’s government is likely, it is in the rumor, to be toppled by the Indian machinations and that the posted and paid “Indian agents” with Nepali certificates have approached Delhi already in order to seek Delhi’s support in breaking the present set up which has not even taken a formal shape.

The Indian regime is hell bent on collapsing this government only because K. P. Sharma Oli has remained instrumental in the construct of this government which, as per Delhi’s myopic lens, is a set up with Beijing bend.

Some Nepali Congress stalwarts, rumors say, have already landed in Delhi to devise schemes in order to kill this presumed Beijing set up in Nepal. The India bent leaders are back in Kathmandu with necessary instructions from Nepal’s rulers in Delhi.

Delhi’s highhandedness had increased, one reason could be, in the absence of the Chinese and the Pakistani Ambassadors in Kathmandu.

However, the new Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song has arrived in Kathmandu to take up his new assignment in Nepal.

The new Chinese envoy appears to have landed in Kathmandu with a determined mood to ensure and secure China’s influence in a substantial manner.

That he is determined to give a new height to existing Nepal-China ties gets reflected from his candid expressions wherein the Ambassador Chen Song has, in a grand departure from the routine expressions on bilateral ties made by the previous Chinese envoys in Kathmandu, has said that “ faced with new situations, new opportunities and new challenges, China will always help Nepal to protect its national sovereignty and national self-respect, to find a path of development according to Nepal’s national situation and aspirations of the Nepalis , and to freely adopt domestic and foreign policies”.

A close look at the new envoy’s blunt utterances suggests that “China henceforth will stay in Kathmandu in an aggressive manner for long and that China will in some way or the other take the needed and the required care for the preservation of Nepal’s dignity and sovereignty”.

This further means that China has concluded that, it appears, Indian highhandedness has done much harm to Nepal’s integrity and sovereignty and that China will now onward do the needful in order to shield Nepal from the external (read India’s) uninterrupted onslaughts.

This means that if India dares to bring about a fall of the sitting government led by “Delhi’s boy” Prachanda then China will brainwash the former Delhi boy and bring in its fold.

In politics and more so with a fickle mind that Prachanda has, the latter willingly will ditch Delhi and embrace Beijing.

If Prachanda is pushed to the wall by Delhi, then the former Delhi boy will be forced to embrace Beijing much to the discomfort of the New Delhi regime which had groomed and nourished Prachanda for well over a decade and indoctrinated to secure advantages from a politically unstable Nepal.

It was with this intent New Delhi exported Comrade Prachanda from Delhi’s hibernation.

Having said so, now the Himalayan question is: Is China a reliable partner of Nepal? Can China be trusted given the signing of the trade route with India in the year 2015 via Nepali landmass Lipulekh?

China is yet to apologize for its diplomatic blunder committed in the year 2015. Will the newly arrive Chinese Ambassador, Chen Song, correct the blunder committed by China in the recent years?

It was a time when Nepal was hit by a mega earthquake (11. 55 AM, April 25, 2015) and Nepal’s immediate neighbors China and India signed an agreement with each other for trading purposes without even hinting Nepal that they are trading with each other through the Nepali landmass Lipulekh.

As a good neighbor, China must correct the blunder committed in the year 2015.

That’s all.
