Each Nepali citizens be granted a portion from total landmass: Dixit

In my personal opinion, I would like to forward a modest yet feasible suggestion to all and sundry that each and every citizen of this country should be allocated a portion of Nepali geographical land which, if it takes a formal shape then, I presume, that would be the best and most effective formulae worth emulating and an exemplary one for the entire world. This would satisfy all. It would then be taken as the most democratic exercise in the entire globe. Each Nepali national should be allowed to have a land as per his or her share from the total area that Nepal covers as its territory. This could be at best be guaranteed by the upcoming Nepal constitution.

If done so will in essence sort out all the existing political and ideological differences once and for all  that exist in between the political parties who have been quarrelling over the federal division of Nepal. It would be not only an act of justice but will also eventually do away with the gender problems.

The whole idea is to grant one Province to each Nepalese.

  • Absolutely! Salute to the idea. This is not the statement of Madan Mani Dikshit, but also of true Nepali souls scattered all over the country. I truly agree with him in the sense that ownership of the nation should be given to the real citizens of the country. What it means is also that ownership of the nation for the groups, rather for the opportunists or the foreign agents, should never be the priority of federalism. Many Nepalis would agree on the idea that the total land of Mother Nepal should be divided by the total population, be allotted their share through Lalpurja first and then only there comes the real federalism. I don't understand why federalism has been made such an issue now. Now is the time to make economic prosperity the main issue. Therefor, Individuals, groups, organisations, political parties, NGOs, INGOs and all other stakeholders should work on economic prosperity of the country.

  • You are right sir in saying 'to please everybody' ; but there is another requirement in democracy that please everyone-which is not possible then the democratic principle which is universal should be applied ie 'majority has authority'.
