India failed in taming Nepal Maoists: Senior Journalist Ghimire

India after the 12-Point agreement took Maoists as the real representatives of the Nepali population and took it for granted that it could discipline the Maoists time permitting. However, when the Nepali Monarchy was ousted in a humiliating and unconstitutional manner, India remained tight lipped. Since then, India could not even domesticate the Maoists as it had thought so but not even the President’s office that had replaced the Monarchy could be institutionalized. In the period after the Madhesh uprising of 2006- which might have political and economic elements in it, save some exceptions, the majority of the corrupt leaders became India’s trustworthy partners.

  • It is surprising and deeply troubling that the so called sambhidhan sabha took such unconstitutional steps many time and majority of nepalese including many of so called intellectuals have not yet condemned such a unconstitutional and undemocratic steps.

  • I hold Ghimire with high esteem.Here I beg to differ with Mr Ghimire.Maoists tamed the all powerful king and all other parties were tamed and badly mauled by the earstwhile 'King' !! There lies the difference.

  • The so called 12 point Delhi accord grandly prepared by India which was blinndly accepted by Nepali Congress leader late GP Koirala was fatal cause of current mess.It's was a suicidal mistake of NC to accept a conspiratorial agenda to completely sideline the institution of monarchy in exachnge of leaving the arms and army of Maoist.So,NC still in process of losing it's credibility and reliability.

  • This is amazing to hear those words out of someone like one former Kantipurian. Didn’t he and others help to spread Maoists’ propaganda during those days? Coming from news and media, how could he fail to get how deliberately Kantipur was helping Maoists to mislead the ordinary people then? This is appalling. If you are honest and loyal to the people, admit what happened.

  • May Nepalese people still want to know! Why the before Maobadi later Maoists created in Nepal? And late Girja managed safe land to them. Do we Nepalese know what was the reasons behind?
