Monarchy, in any form is unacceptable: Nepal PM

Telegraph Nepal

It is highly objectionable to raise the issue of restoration of Cultural Monarchy. Monarchy in any form is not at all acceptable to the Nepali population. We need to be careful because there are people with different mindsets who want to fish in the troubled waters.

Nepal’s Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who was defeated at two constituencies in the election to the Constituent Assembly made these remarks upon meeting the Unified Maoists’ top leadership at his secretariat, Friday August 27, 2010.

  • Who gave you the right to say this. Let the people decide whether they want monarchy or not. Do you have a gut to go to referendum for the revival of monarchy? otherwise don't comment, your comment does not have any value Mr. MKN, think that before commenting?

  • parliament or CA election defeated person cannot be any kind of minister of Nepal. Whether restablish cultural monarchical institution should be referendum otherwise even people cannot accept... If monarchical institution was not in Nepal present Nepali top political party leaders could not raise their head.

  • I fully agree with Navin. The greater and main reason behind not accepting monarchy by these greedy and visionless leaders,is: they won't get absolute access to national treasury to loot. After all, ther are certified looter.

  • They are worried that if the Monarchy comes to power they won't be able to loot the nation as they are doing now. They are blood suckers and have drained mother Nepal. They don't have shame.
