Support NC government for four months: K.C

“We requested the Maoists leaders to support the Nepali Congress government for four months period only”, said spokesperson Arjun Narsingh K.C. of Nepali Congress and added, “We will quit the government after bringing logical end to the peace process”.

Mr. K.C made the remark after talks held between three major parties, Nepali Congress, United Marxist Leninists and Unified Maoists at the private residence of NC acting president Mr. Sushil Koirala, today August 14, 2010.

There is no constitutional provision for a government by rotation for four months;therefore NC should instead propose UCPN Maoist and CPN UML to form a coalition government with equal representation of five members from each party.The PM could be from the largest party in the legislature and Deputy PMs could be from rest two. It would be a constitutional, pragmatic and viable option to write the new constitution and guide the peace process to its logical conclusion. The country has been running smoothly for over a month without politicians, which is a new development in Nepal.
