Last salute to you late Mohan!
He was not only a person. He was full of brilliant and thrilling ideas. He was strong in his convictions and possessed aplenty managerial capabilities with proper and the adequate finesse that had no match in
How to handle business he learnt from his father Late Bihari Lal Khetan.
He used to tell me as to how his late father trained him to do business. He said it was his late father’s blessings from the heaven that he was having this prestigious status among the Nepali business community. Not so many people remember their late father as he did. An example to be ameliorated by others.
He was an razor-sharp business mogul. A mysterious person to so many, however, Mohan Gopal Khetan, to me was a serious, hard-working and an industrialist of high repute-which he earned for himself that too by the dint of his own labor and perseverance-is no more in this material world.
He was sixty one only and left this ethereal medium for ever. But his aroma as a human being will remain for ever.
He left for his heavenly abode last Thursday late evening. We are told that he have had a heart-attack.
On 25 April at an Israeli national day reception, I had asked Rajendra “how is your dad? He is fine, Rajendra had said, I recall. Hardly had it been some twenty eight hours of my question to Rajendra, Mohan Gopal Khetan said good-bye to this mortal world.
The ultimate truth is that from where you have come, you have to go back to the same place of origin. Mohan Gopal-the combination of two synonymous lord
He lived a short life comparatively speaking. But then to me it appears that he enjoyed every thing that a man as a human being upon taking birth in this earthly world. Name, fame, wealth, prestige, popularity and what not and what not? He was a human being, basically. He was then a good friend. He used to tell me even- don’t mind his immediate relatives- that what would happen to his Khetan group upon his demise unfortunately? This he said during my last meeting with him a fortnight back.
He was an industrialist wizard, I would say. He proved himself to be so. Even his rivals accepted this reality. No wonder.
He through his hard-work acquired a place for himself in the entire business communities that were beyond the
Some people said he was arrogant. Could be! But then yet his arrogance was for a cause, he used to tell in his private meetings with me at his close chamber at his own private posh bungalow.
As a simple human being, he too had an excessive craze for media. He at times could be seen talking practically to all major newspapers of
But then in his talks with the media, he always favored for the restoration of peace and tranquility in the country.
One can imagine how much hard work he would have done to make a Khetan Business Empire?
I can imagine the trials and tribulations he would have gone through in making such an Empire.
Upadhyaya! Your newspaper is highly academic one, do you get enough readerships? How much is the turn over? I suppose you must be in a loss. He also at times complained as to the quality of paper that I have had to use for a variety of unexplainable reasons. “Yours is of low quality”, this he used to bluntly say.
But then yet he used to tell his intimate friends that he liked my paper. What else an editor could expect from such healthy comments? I was simply satisfied.
He was kind hearted as well.
I give you one instance, out of so many business friends that I have made in
On both the occasions, he was the single one who consoled me when I needed it.
His sudden and untimely demise, as it was by all measures, must have come as a severe blow to his family members. I can imagine. However, it was his strong confidence and an inner indomitable strength that he kept himself going. Others would have surrendered to death much earlier.
He was a diabetic. I have personally seen him injecting Insulin himself.
But then yet, he never allowed this disease to come in his way. Business never came to a halt. He used to be seen in the diplomatic receptions. He was a busy man and must have remained so until he counted his last breath.
I simply miss him because I have lost a true reader. I miss him because I lost a friend who was though senior to me; however, the age gap was not that much.
I miss him not only because he was an admirer of my paper, but also as a man who possessed “magic-brain”.
I hope that Rajendra, Chandra Prakash-nick named CP- and PP will all in a combined manner promote the ideals and the contributions that late Mohan Gopal made for this country.
I know Rajendra is hard working having a tilt on academic things. I know that CP has already become a good administrator. Let me hope that the junior Khetan brothers will keep their heads-high and make the dreams of their father, if left, come to true in their reign of the Khetan empire.
The empire is there. All that they have to do is to take the speed.
I join in your grief Rajendra and CP, PP! May lord Pashupatinath provide the departed soul eternal peace. I know how much pain and sorrow one has to bear as and when we are forced to part from our dear parents. I have already experienced such traumatic moments.
Rest Oh! Ye! Great soul in eternal peace.
