Ex-Nepal King accorded ‘green-carpet welcome’ in Nepalgunj
“I have come here to perform pooja at the Bageshwori Temple and to observe the faces of our brothers and sisters who live in this region” Nepal’s former King Gyanendra Shah replied when asked to reveal the objective of his arrival in Nepalgunj of Banke district, May 23, 2010.
“Now we must all unite for peace and prosperity of our country”, he urged entire Nepali population but he preferred not to talk of politics.
In his brief chitchat with the media in Nepalgunj, the ex-King Gyanendra Shah wished that peace will soon prevail in the country.
But how peace will dawn in the country, he did not reveal.
Thousands of supporters had thronged at the Nepalgunj Ranjha Airport to welcome the former King.
He was escorted by his supporters in Motor Bikes, until the procession reached Tribhuwan Chowk of the City.
Cadres of pro-monarchy party, RPP-Nepal, former Panchas, staunch royalists, local leaders of Nepali Congress party and pro-Madhesi parties too were seen welcoming the former monarch.
Local Nepali Congress leader Surendra Hamal told the media point blank that he was still in favor of revival of Constitutional Monarchy and that was the primary reason for him to greet the King.
At 12:00 when he arrived at the city center mercury had already gone up and tentatively crossed 43 degree Celsius-perhaps an all time high in Nepalgunj. .
From Tribhuwan Chowk ‘Green Carpet’ was rolled for over 500 meters where he walked along with his supporters to arrive at the Bageshwori Temple.
Though repeatedly asked by the Security personnel not to walk along the route, Shah denied their suggestions.
Thus it was a “green carpet welcome” instead of the usual red one.
A completely soaked Shah with the boiling temperature tried to “touch the people” and talked to them briefly along the route.
In between, public chanted pro-monarchy slogans and urged him to stage a comeback.
Ex-King Gyanendra performed pooja at the Bageshwori Temple as per the usual Royal traditions for around 20 minutes, say reports.
The main-priest of the Temple Mahant Chandandas revealed “He may not be the King of this country but, he is the King of Hindus the world over, thus he performed pooja as per the prevailing Royal practices and traditions.”
After performing pooja, the former monarch arrived at the Sneha Hotel, one of the top hotels in Nepalgunj.
At Sneha Hotel, his supporters and public were already lined up to meet the former monarch. They made complaints and repeatedly urged the King to manage a grand return. Cadres of Shiva-Sena Nepal told Gyanendra Shah that they are even ready to grab weapons to revive Hindu as State religion.
After listening to the public complaints Gyanendra said, “Now, our leaders will provide the outlet.”
He talked to the public at the hotel for over an hour.
Gyanendra took a fight back to Kathmandu at 5:40. But, after 20 minutes of departure, the Buddha Air Flight returned to Nepalgunj due to adverse climatic conditions.
It is reported that Gyanendra will return to Kathmandu today morning, May 24, 2010.

WE WANT OUR KING @ COUNTRY BACK.
The institution of Monarcy in Nepal is still alive and remains forever whether the Monarchs resides in the Palace. Monarcy is in Peoples heart and thats how we Nepali are born with. Changing Religion and Monarch among Nepali is like going all nepali in forster care with the other religion. A born Nepali is always Hindu and if tries to trade religion you might also trade your mother. I am sure Netas from all parties still wear dhoti in the morning and perform rituals before they leave the home. Save nepali unique and diverse culture without upsetting harmony in the community. We all nepali no matter what religion we come from we have become the symbol of unity and tolorance. these are the reason some country inject so call secular state to wage war among all nepali. Lets unite and save this beautiful kingdom of Nepal.
VERY TRUE MR.KC
EVEN TODAY THE CONSPIRACY IS BEING HATCHED FOR THE NEPALESE PEOPLE NOT TO EMBRACE HIS MAJESTY,BY SOME NEPALESE AND SOME FOREIGNERS.
WE MUST ALL STRESS AND FIGHT FOR REFERENDUM ON THE ISSUE OF MONARCHY.
LONG LIVE HIS MAJESTY.
Mr. editor, may I request you that the slang "former King or ex King" must use to those persons who are republican, not for pro monarchy, b'cause still King Gyanendra is the King, no doubt the socalled abolishment of monarchy was the conspiracy or grand-design of India, be sure that some nepali ..... dalal' (I think, you know all about this and nepalese political garbagge) were used this.
Another thing, now some factor are throwing the propaganda of restotration of Monarchy, Foooools....
Nepalese Monarchy is not a football, when you want to kick, you can kick, and when you need it, you can pick, so please, you may tell them "not to cheat the peoples quoting that "the king may come back in throne.
good-bye.
