I don’t hope Nepal Charter will be draft on time: Prachanda
While Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ opines that he was not sure whether the constitution would be drafted on time or not, he thus demands integration and rehabilitation of Peoples’ Liberation Army being carried out only after Constitution Drafting process ends.
He made these remarks while addressing a three party meet organized to find solutions to the continued political deadlock, peace process and constitution drafting.
The three parties, UML, NC and Unified Maoists Party had organized a meeting, March 2, 2010 at the Godavari Resort Hotel, Lalitpur District.
“Since we are not certain whether the Constitution would be drafted at all and thus it would be improper to integrate PLA men ahead of Constitution drafting”, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat of the Nepali Congress quoted the Maoists’ supremo as saying during the Godavari meeting.
He also said, quotes Dr. Mahat, “I had an agreement with Girija Babu that 5 to 10 thousand PLA would be integrated.”
Talking to the BBC Nepali service, March 2, 2010 said Dr. Mahat said that it would be only hoping against hope to expect some tangible outcome from the current meet.
The Nepali Congress and UML Leaders maintained that the integration process must be completed ahead of the constitution drafting process.
The second round of meeting is to be held today around 4:00 PM. The location has not been made public, it is reported.
Though the leaders from various parties differed in their stances, however, while enjoying the “free lunch” they were found giggling with each other.
Understandably, the government must have paid the “recreation” bills.
