Nepal Maoist obstruct Upper Marsyangdi Hydro Power Project

TGW

It was the turn of Upper Marsyangdi -II to be obstructed by the Unified Maoists party after Mid-Marsyangdi Power Project, claiming first the project had Indian funding and secondly, the project was not in the benefit of the local population.

The Indian company GMR holds 80 percent stake in the Himtal Hydropower Company that was awarded with the right to prepare DPR (Detailed Project Report) of the Upper Marsyangdi -II one and half years back by the government.

The Upper Marsyangdi -II 600 MW Hydro Power Project is located in the district of Lamjung.

A group of Unified Maoist Party cadres led by CA members Amar Tanu and Buddhiram Tamu all of a sudden landed at the project site and declared that the project will be closed beginning Tuesday, say reports.

“We have shutdown the project as per the policy adopted by central leadership”, said Amar Tamu.

Under one pretext or the other, the Maoists have been threatening to obstruct all Hydro-Power Projects that have the Indian funding.

UPPER KARNALI in Dailekh district going to be constructed by GMR-India, ARUN-III in Sankhuwasabha awarded to Sutlej-India and West Seti to be constructed by CIMEC-Australia, co-owned by one Indian company, have been threatened to close down by the Maoists Party.

Bedi, I am an Indian JFI. But this unfortunate that you call your citizen DALAL. Are you really a Neapal Nepalese ? You might have some elements as in every country who may not think for themselves more than the country. But a country will not remain alive if all the like that. Indian politicians are also corrupt. But many of them are honest also and always think good for the country. Like Manmohan Singh. He is one of the most honest person. There is possibility that some of his ministers are corrupt. But that is ok. That is how the world is. Same is everywhere. But to answer your point, only senseless person will try stop a project which is going to benefit the host country. No business man will put money unless he makes a decent return. When we go ot market to buy vegeatbles, transaction happens only if both feel satisfied. Buyer feels that he getting value for the money he is paying and seller feels that he is making decent money by selling. As Long Nepal keeps the above in mind, things will be smooth.

Look what happen to the Machine readable passport case recently. You are either an indian talking for indian interest here or a nepali DALAL of INDIA.

This is very unfortunate that what little bit development was coming to Nepal through this project is being lost. I am sure government is not fool when they awarded this project to private Indian company. Looks like maosits are hell bound to take Nepal to primitve era. nay project adds job and development.
