Nepal Ex-Monarch Gyanendra to take holy bath in Panauti today
Makar Mela, which is observed each 12 years in Panauti of Kavre district beginning Makar Sakranti for a month period will have an odd but smiling visitor today February 8, 2010.
The visitor is not liked by so many in the country but, not so in the distant past, he used to be revered and adored by millions and millions as the King of Hindus world over.
Nepal’s former King Gyanendra Shah is heading for Makar Mela today.
As per reports, the last Hindu sovereign will take a holy bath in the Panauti River. He will be accompanied by former queen Komal Shah.
It is also reported that security machinery has been tightened along his route to Panauti.
He will follow the same route that Nepal’s First President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav had recently taken while going to the same destination. It is a matter of intense curioucity as to how Gyanendra will be received by the dwellers of the highly religious ancient city of Nepal, Panauti?
While President Yadav was greeted with Black Flags by the Maoists’ cadres, will the ex-Nepal King Gyanendra have similar reception along his way?
