Nepal Tharu Welfare Society demands Multiple States in Tarai
Raj Kumar Lekhi, General Secretary of the Tharu Welfare Society told journalists on Saturday, February 6, 2010, that the Society is organizing several programs targeting the entire Tarai plains to make people aware of the need to establish several States in the Tarai belt.
“This is our movement to establish Multiple States in Tarai”, Lekhi said adding “The 14 state model presented in the CA is discriminatory in nature and thus unacceptable.”
“Whereas Himal and Pahad have been divided into 12 states, there are just two states in Tarai…we are against this model,” he added.
The Society also issued a statement on Saturday in Kathmandu forwarding its demand for multiple states in Tarai.
“The 14-State Model ignores wishes of the Tarai people which will not see the devolution of power to the grass root level,” the statement also reads.

Either you demand to establish whole tetai as a singe state of or several states, that is not so important, Important is there should be the identity of tharu in every single name of state.
