Integration of PLA into Nepal Army could lead to Civil War
The Nepali Congress acting President Mr. Sushil Koirala opines that the bulk integration of Unified Maoists’ Party’s Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) into the institution of Nepal Army will surely invite Civil war in the country.
Addressing a press meet organized by Federation of Nepalese Journalists in Bhojpur, January 24, 2010, junior Koirala said that the Nepali Congress will never accept the integration of politically indoctrinated fighters into the professional army.
He suggested, they should be rather deployed along the border, to protect the forests and even could be deployed in industrial bases for security purposes.
Prior to the 2007 B.S advent of democracy the Nepali Congress too had its own liberation army, Koirala said adding but they were not integrated into the Army.
“I sincerely request the Maoists’ to stop dreaming of capturing the state…it is just a day dreaming”, said Koirala.
The Maoists are obstructing the constitution drafting process because they are not a democratic force…only democratic forces of the country want to see the constitution drafted on time”, he continued.
On the issue of ongoing Maoists’ movement for National Liberation said Koirala “It is just a Maoists’ ploy to hide their weaknesses?”
