Ten Tibetan arrested, Nepal Govt. pressed to handover to UNHCR

TGW

Ten Tibetans, eight men and two women, who sneaked into Nepal without having proper documents from Tibet, were arrested by Nepal police here on Sunday, January 17, 2010.

The Tibetans who had entered Nepal allegedly to take part in anti-China activities, were arrested in Lamabagar of Dolakha District, reports say.

“We will submit them to the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu for deportation”, said Madhav Raj Regmi of Department of Immigration.

“After their arrest in Dolakha, the Tibetans were handed over to the Department of Immigration” says Bhakta Raj Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Dolakha district.

It is also revealed through sources that the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) has been pressurizing Nepal Government to submit the refugees to their custody.

Tibet isn't Nepal's problem and tibetan chinese should stop protesting and staging anti-china demonstrations in Nepal. It hinders Nepal's china relationship and causes problems in nepal. Furthermore, Tibetans should be grateful that Nepal has provided asylum to a large number of them and stop these demonstrations. Tibetans ARE CHINESE and it is the right decision by the Nepali government in handing them over to the Chinese Embassy. The only reason you have your GARMENT Factory is because you were given asylum in Nepal. So please refrain from boasting about your carpent ie...smuggling artifacts god knows what else antics. IS THIS THE WAY YOU PAY BACK NEPAL? What a bunch of ungrateful people. If you really feel this strongly then protest in Beijing or in TIBET for crying out loud. Looks like you don't have the balls to stage a demonstration in CHINA itself. Leave NEPAL out of this issue.

Tibet was once a free country. Today it is occupied. Nepal should handover the Tibetan refugees to UNHCR and Chinese Embassy. Remember during Gyanendra's last days Tibetans were handed over we lost Most Favored status and garment industry plummeted. Don't provoke. Practice compassion as taught by Buddha.

Nepal can not join the international campaign to split China.Nepal should treat the matter in a way so that in future nobody will illegally cross the northern border and there will not be anymore mustang type war.

Nepal and India should recognize the legitimate aspirations of freedom of the Tibetan people. It is shame on Nepal and India to show blind-eye to Chinese suppression in Tibet

PoorTibetens PRC will treat them as terrorists and kill all 10 of them. Nepal should have handed them to UNHCR

It is in Nepal's interest to hand this poor Tibetans to the UNHCR. If Nepal hands over these Tibetan to the chinese to be tortured then the Human rights group and Tibetan supporters around the world will take Nepal to the International courts or protest in front of their embassies arond the world. That will be a big shame to Nepal's image. So this is in Nepal image.
