India bashing continues: Interference Increased after Nepal Monarchy abolished

TGW

The Maoists of Nepal have now been openly saying that their former shelter provider, the Indian regime, was the main obstacle for the institutionalization of peace and also for the timely drafting of new constitution for Nepal.

“It was due to India’s direct interference in Nepal’s internal matters, the constitution drafting process is being delayed, peace process is almost at a derailed state, State restructuring is in jeopardy and above all the integration process is also becoming next to impossible”, said Maoists’ senior leader Mr. Dev Gurung.

Given that India was mainly behind supporting the Maoists’ of Nepal, from arming them to extending financial support, in their offensive against their own motherland during the revolt and India played vital role during the forging of an agreement with Nepal’s political seven parties until abolishment of Monarchy, the Maoists’ suddenly coming heavily down against India thereafter is no less intriguing.

“After the end of Monarchy, foreign interference in Nepal has been increasing exponentially”, Gurung said in a somewhat surprising manner.

Foreign interference in Nepal automatically means Indian interference.

Could the Maoists’ fresh advocacy in favor of uniting with the Nationalists be taken as an extension of what Gurung said on Tuesday regarding ‘foreign interference’ December 29, 2009?

Mr. Gurung made these remarks in Lamjung at a program organized by a Maoists’ Party affiliate, Tamu National Liberation Front.

Nationalists’ in the context of Nepal are taken as anti-Indians and Royalists by the Indian regime and its salaried stooges residing in Nepal as Nepali citizens.

Gurung who looked in an India bashing mood during his entire speech also said, “We have been successful to sideline the monarchy but we have still a long way to go to demolish the wall of Indian colonialism prevalent in Nepal.”

“We need to draft the constitution on time primarily to foil the India’s nefarious designs to keep Nepali political parties in a fractured state and rule in an uninterrupted manner”, Gurung also said.

The only way the Maoists can get back to power is to reconcile with the royalist-nationalists. In doing so they wil be able to write a new constitution that is in keeping with the natinal interets of Nepal and its historical legacies. King Birendra's vision of a Zone of peace should be revived on a grand scale. Thsi ime with full UN backing for the peace and stability of South Asia as a whole.
