Nepal Maoists Chief thanks UNMIN

TGW

Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda, the Unified Maoists’ Party Chairman has thanked the UNMIN (United Nation’s Mission in Nepal) for supporting the demand forwarded by his party for the formation of a National Unity Government.

Mr. Dahal had thanked the UNMIN in his meeting with the Special emissary of the UN Secretary-General in Nepal and the UNMIN Chief Ms. Karin Landgren, November 15, 2009.

The meeting took place at the Naya Bazaar Residence of the Maoists’ Chairman Dahal.

During the meeting Ms. Landgren also expressed concerns over the criticism made by the ruling coalition partners towards the UNSG’s remark that National Unity Government was imperative in Nepal to fulfill the objectives of drafting the constitution and conclusion of the peace process.

The ruling partners had dubbed the UNSG’s fervent appeal for National Unity as interference in internal matters of Nepal.

The Maoists’ leaders on the other hand have been maintaining that the India elevated government of Nepal was speaking on behalf of its masters seated in New Delhi and crying foul against the UN body.

Mrs. Landgren is quoted by the Janadisha Daily as saying that to call UNSG’s fervent appeal as interference was totally wrong.

Ms. Landgren also inquired about the ongoing Maoists’ party led protest programs with the Maoists’ chairman.
