Maoists Greet Nepal Prez with black flags in Ithari, Yadav annoyed

TGW

Nepal’s first President, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav who had arrived at the Eastern region divisional Headquarters located in Itahari, Sunsari District at around 3:00 PM, November 13, 2009, after inaugurating Eye Hospital in Anarmani-7 of Jhapa District was greeted by the Unified Maoists cadres with Black Flags.

The Unified Maoists’ Party cadres, who were brought from nearby Morang and Saptari districts, had gathered at the front gate of the Army Regional Headquarters and chanted slogans against the President for over an hour.

The Unified Maoist Party had organized a Jhapa District Closure on Friday.

Protesting against the President for his unconstitutioal decision to reinstate the erstwhile Maoists’ Government sacked Army Chief, the Maoists cadres halted traffic in the Ithari-Dharan section of the Highway for an hour.

“The Maoists cadres also demanded immediate resignation from the President”, say reports.

The President held meeting with high ranking officials of the Nepal Army, Police Force and Armed Police Force at the Nepal Army Regional Headquarters, Ithari.

The President keenly listened to the briefing organized by the Security agencies. The officials briefed the President over the growing clout of the Unified Maoists party in the Tarai region and the measures adopted by the security agencies to take control over the criminal activities along the border.

Earlier, President Yadav addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Eye Hospital had said refuting the Maoists’ allegation that he had never made any unconstitutional moves.

“I have made no unconstitutional moves, I am not undertaking such moves now and I will not do so in the future as well”, said the President.

Dr. Yadav also said that the 12-Points Agreement made between the political parties of Nepal have brought great changes in the country.

However, critics dare to differ with the President in that except his elevation as the country’s president abolishing the 240 Years Hindu Monarchy nothing substantial in favor of the people have ushered in the country despite high flying assurances made by the then India sponsored leaders, 2005.
Dr. Yadav must admit this fact if he is really sincer towards the population.
