India-US nexus overthrew Nepal’s Monarchy: Prakash Koirala

TGW

Prakash Koirala, chairman of the Nationalist Congress Party and the son of late B.P. Koirala, opines that Nepal’s political parties had no authority and power as such to do away with the 240 Years Old Hindu monarchy in Nepal.

Late B.P is one of the founder leaders of the Nepali Congress Party.

“India had not even the courage to overthrow Nepal’s monarchy”, Prakash believes.

“India always wanted to keep Nepal’s monarchy under its influence and grip”, says Koirala adding that “However, India at the later stage comprehended that King Gyanendra would prefer not to remain under their (Indian) influence….he (Gyanendra) rather preferred to remain as a neutral force, and thus India was irritated with the then Nepal King”.

“On the other hand, since China was on its course to become World Super Power, India and US joined hands to sideline the Nepali monarchy to hinder China’s growing influence in this part of the world”, he adds.

“India played the role of a mediator between Nepal’s political parties to achieve the goal”, Prakash adds.

“My differences with Girija Prasad Koirala persist for long time now”, he says.

Girija Koirala, the current president of the Nepali Congress party is the junior brother of late B.P. Koirala.

“I was the one who raised the issue of unequal agreement of Tanakpur and I have been telling that in Kalapani, India has been illegally occupying Nepali territories”, adds Prakash.

“I told Girija babu that there is the imbalance in his foreign policy, that was always in favor of India…however, India does not need him anymore…it has used him time and again, now India knows that Girija babu is of no use to them...”, Prakash who is the father of Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala says.

“It was not Girija Babu who forced the Maoists to sign the 12-Points Agreement, rather it was India” Prakash declares.

“I also advised him to unite with the Nationalist forces of Nepal…I also told him to work with the King, however he preferred to unite with alien forces”, Mr. Koirala who was elevated as a minister during King Gyanendra’s direct rule told the Jan Aastha during the course of his interview, dated November 11, 2009.

“Look, India is not only the foreign forces acting in Nepal at the moment, there are other forces too, they are acting as in umpire” Prakash says adding, “A government without the consent of India and China both, is impossible to take shape in the country.”

Yes, my friends, we need people's supremacy in Nepal which will be achieved only through referendum. Please do not comment on my view if you do not understand what is referendum.

I don't see any thing as such to confrontate with Mr.Prakash Koirala because his expression is fully based on reality. The only principle which could save this country as an independent nation is: the great policy of B.P.Koirala,a great political prophet and statsman, viz.policy pf National unity and Reconcilaition. No one really needs to try other than this to save the nation since the needs of hour and soil is only matching to that policy.Jay Nepal !

Dear Nepali brother & sisters !! yes! we need to bring back monarchy institution. this is the only way to save our beautiful country and people. Long lived our beloved King & Queen.

Commented by nab / Japan - November 11, 2009 @ 3:43 AM

Yes Prakash is right. Any circumstances we need monarchical institution. 240 year old monarhical institution is historical and political development of Nepal. That is why we people should have right to give verdict over the monarchical instituion in free and fair way. Still political parties of Nepal are supreamacy than people. The constituion assembly had no right to decide over the national issues like monarchcial institution and hindu relgion and so on. When Girija Babu's health improve then He should solve this task. Girija Babu was telling the concept of Baby king he should clearify.

Pashupati Shumser Rana , Chairman, Rastriya Prajatantra Party
Political polarization is not there as yet. To remind you, the Maoists have come only after a people’s war but not the rest of the political parties. It could be this factor which may have brought or to come to surface certain differences with the Maoists over some political issues. More..
