Congress against CA dissolution and Nepal Prez Rule, Party debunks rumors

The party Chief Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Pokharel, issuing a statement, November 9, 2009, has drawn the attention of and criticized the ruling party, United Marxist Leninists’ Party towards the allegation made by one of its leaders that the NC was in favor of dissolving the Constituent Assembly and impose presidential rule in the country.

The Statement also clarifies that no leaders of the Nepali Congress have ever made such an undemocratic and anti-people remarks.

“The Nepali Congress since year 2007 B.S was in favor of the formation of the Constituent Assembly”, says the statement, “The Assembly that was elected by sovereign citizens of Nepal and the constitution drafted by the Assembly would be accepted to the Nepali Congress party”.

One of the senior leaders of the ruling United Marxist Leninists’ Party Mr. Ashok Rai making a statement had said that the Nepali Congress Party had asked the UML to dissolve the Constituent Assembly and impose presidential rule in the country.

He made this remark, November 7, 2009.
