China to safeguard Nepal’s Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty

TGW

The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Quo Guohang has expressed happiness on behalf of the Communist regime of China over Nepal’s stance on ‘maintaining and supporting’ One China Policy.

The Ambassador inaugurated a three day photo exhibition ‘China’s Tibet: Past and Future’ in Dharan of Sunsari District, October 21, 2009.

The Chinese Photo Exhibition in Dharan, a city in the Eastern Part of the country could turn significant in balancing India’s heavy influence in the city, say locals.

Dharan is just 26 kilometers from the nearest Indian border.

Dharan has been traditionally under the heavy influence of the Indian establishment mainly because of Gorkha Penision Camp and B.P. Koirala Memorial Hospital constructed with the Indian assistance.

The Gorkha Pension camps spread across the nooks and corners of the country are often blamed for spying on local activities for the Indian establishment.

“We sincerely hope that Nepal will continue to adhere to its One China Policy”, the Ambassador hoped.

“The Nepal Government and Nepali people have always maintained One China Policy and we are thankful to this stance,” said the Chinese envoy adding “We would like to thank Nepal mainly for not allowing any activities concerning Tibet in Nepal.”

“We are confident that Nepal and Nepali people, in the future will not allow Nepali soil to be used against China”, he added.

He said further, “Nepali stand on Tibet matters are important for maintaining Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty of China.”

While hinting reciprocity with China’s relations with Nepal, said the Chinese envoy “China would also like to support Nepal maintain Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty as it has been doing to China.”

“Our(Nepal and China) relations have been historical, and China has accorded top priority to its relations with age old relations with Nepal.”

“We would also want Nepal soon get rid of current political instabilty”, said the Chinese anvoy adding, “China is ready to extend its support to Nepal towards Economic and Social upliftment.”

This was the Chinese Ambassador’s first trip to Dharan. He was accorded red carpet welcome by the locals. The Dharan Municipality and Federation of Industries and Commerce had organzed two different programs in the honor of the Ambassador.

The Chinese envoy on October 16, 2009, was in Jhapa-a Nepali district close to the Indian border.

Locals lined up in a huge queue to offer him flower bouquet while he was on his way to inaugurate the Photo Exhibition in Dharan.

At the program organized by the Dharan Municipality, the Ambassador was presented with Nepali Dhaka Topi by the Officiating Secretary, Mr. Khagendra Prasad Khatiwada.

Mr.  Khatiwada also requested China to extend support to help develop Dharan.
This does then mean that the Chinese Ambassador too has become sensitive.

China will safeguard Nepal’s Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty like they did in 1971 for Pakistan. Every nation in this world is alone when it comes to self-interest. May be China is planning to protect like they are protecting Tibet.
