UML Captain Claims Maoist seduced him to become Nepal PM

TGW

The United Marxist Leninists Chairman Mr. Jhala Nath Khanal revealed to the pressmen that the Unified Maoists’ Party had repeatedly urged him to assume the post of the country’s Prime Minister.

Mr. Khanal is currently in the district of Myagdi to attend the inauguration ceremony of UML district level General Assembly, October 13, 2009.

Mr. Khanal said that the Maoists were proposing him to become the Prime Minister replacing Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal.

“Though they have been assuring that the political dispute could settle down if I replace Mr. Nepal as the prime minister, I have not taken their offer seriously”, added Khanal.

“I have no desire for the post of the prime minister”, Khanal revealed on his own.

“However, I am ready to lead the country if the situation so desires”, he said adding “I am not a coward to run away from holding the responsibility.”

The Maoists’ in the mean time had also proposed Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala to lead the country and they have publicly accepted that even Sujata Koirala as the next Nepal Prime Minister will not be objected by their party.

Sujata is the daughter of father Girija Prasad Koirala and recently elevated to the post of the DPM.

“Now...we have got another deputy prime minister”, said Khanal adding, “I wish her a good tenure in office.”

“The NC’s inner brawl with Sujata’s elevation will bear no impact in the longevity of the government”, he assured the press.
