Rabindra Shrestha blows hot against Nepal Maoists’ top hats

TGW

Rabindra Shrestha, a former Maoist leader who quit the United Marxist Leninists party, after the mainstream parties of Nepal signed the Anti-National 12-Points India forced Agreement with the then rebel Maoists Party in New Delhi, later joined the United Marxist Leninists’ Party and was elevated to the rank of a minister in the incumbent UML party led coalition government.

To recall, Mr. Shrestha used to be taken as the right-hand of the Maoists’ Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal during the so called People’s war.

Mr. Shrestha, who was elevated to the portfolio of the Minister for General Administration with the blessings of the “defeated” Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has thus acquired an anti Prachanda and anti-Baburam stance.

On October 9, 2009 addressing a UML gathering held in Mainapokhari of Dolakha District, the minister said that he was totally confident that none of the Maoists’ leaders, Prachanda or Babu Ram will once again take to the Jungle course.

This interesting revelation from a former Maoists’ leader came at a time when the Maoists’ party is threatening yet another revolt sooner than later.

He said “those leaders (read Prachanda and Babu Ram) who were hiding somewhere in New Delhi, NOIDA, for eight and half years during the rebellion period would never go back to the jungles”.

“Believable it could be if a common Maoists’ cadre declares that he would take to the jungle course but for Pushpa Kamal and Babu Ram it is simply unbelievable,” he added.

Mr. Shrestha viewed that to get Yearly Budget approved, the government should imprison the entire CA members belonging to the Maoists’ camp.

“No matter what, the government should either impose an Army Rule or imprison the Maoists’ leadership to get the Budget approved”.

“If they continue blocking the parliamentary proceeding, the government will take back all the facilities, including the vehicle provided by the government to the Maoists’ Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal”, Minister threatened.

“Prachanda is a dubious character, on the one hand he orders his men at the CA to disrupt the parliamentary proceeding and on the other he sends proposal to the cabinet to send Maoists’ CA members to the United States draining the national exchequer”, he revealed.

“The cabinet meeting held Thursday October 8, 2009, passed Prachanda’s proposal with the sole intention to expose the Maoists”, he revealed further.
