Armed Revolt likely in Nepal, Maoist not to budge from its stance
“As the Nepal Army comes under the direct control of the peoples’ elected government, the Nepali population will be assured of lasting peace in the country”.
The Maoists’ Party vice chairman Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai made the “value added” statement addressing a mass meet in Baglung, October 6, 2009.
“Those are only rumors that the parties have reached consensus”, he said adding, “it is unlikely that the parties will reach an accord to solve the political dispute.”
“We will not compromise unless the President’s unconstitutional decisions are duly corrected”, he continued.
“We will nevertheless, try hard to get issues resolved before the Tihar festival, however, we will, in any case, wage another round of protests after the festival.”
