The United Marxist Leninists, the namesake communist party of Nepal that imitates the Unified Maoists party on Communist ideological grounds and mimics the Nepali Congress on Democratic Principles too organized a Tea Party on October 4, 2009.
The Nepali Congress had organized a Tea party on Saturday for exchanging greetings on the occasion of Dashain-Tihar Festival.
Political luminaries, Political party cadres, senior journalists were all invited at the UML headquarters in Balkhu on Sunday, October 4, 2009.
Host of the ceremony UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal welcomed Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, Maoists’ Party Chief Prachanda and other important political luminaries at the Tea Party.
The UML Tea Party looked much more disciplined and well managed than the one organized by the NC a day earlier, say those who attended the UML sponsored tea reception.
Prachanda addressing the gathering urged leaders of all the parties to take a step back and “see how the current political dispute ended”.
“I urge you all to take a step back as I have done, the dispute will end immediately”, said a beaming Prachanda.
The Journalists then interrupted Prachanda and asked “what say you of the move of the President then”?
Prachanda replied, “Do not try to pollute the friendly environment here.”
Then, Girija Prasad Koirala’s usual drama followed.
A cheerful Koirala urged all the political top hats to join him for a photo session.
“Come here, let us have a photo session”, Koirala said while hugging both Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhal Nath Khanal.
Prachanda joined...Koirala became even more excited and said, “All four of us are one.”
Thus the “unity drama” ended. The population has been witnessing such frustrating drama since long. With each such drama, the frustration among the people is increasing to the extent that the people have become restive and may pounce upon their “respected” leaders if found walking on the streets if the delay in forging unity consumes time.
