Nepal leaders agree to disagree, agree for another round of talks

TGW

The meeting held between the heads of the Nepali Congress, Unified Maoists and the United Marxist Leninists’ have come to a conclusion that the current political dispute will end only after the Dashain Festival.

Thus they have agreed to disagree for some time until festivals come to an end.

The NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and Maoists’ Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal until late night September 21, 2009, held discussions over the Maoists’ raised demands to restore Civilian Supremacy yet could not come to a final conclusion.

Thus, the three leaders decided to hold another round of talks only after the festival is over, say reports.

They agreed to agree on the next round of talks.

“The meeting also concluded that the constitution drafting process will see a fast paced effort only after the festival”.

This means that they have agreed to speed up the constitution drafting process.

No less an achievement?

The leaders however, decided to hold informal meets during the festival as well.

So they will work over time and may seek allowances for such a “hard work”? This is very interesting in that even in the holidays, Nepali leaders have agreed to work.

A word of shame to Nepali leaders who pocketed money from the CA accounts departments for all along six months without getting engaged in constitution writing process.

A rough estimate has it that the CA members pocketed some one billion rupees as their salaries over the past six months.
