I am not an atheist: Nepal Maoist Chief Prachanda

TGW

“I am not an atheist”, said Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Nepal Communist Party Unified Maoists’ Party chief, who is often blamed for the killing of thousands of precious Nepali lives in his bid to spread Communist ideology, which regards religion as an Opium, in the highly religious terrain of Nepal.

Dahal on Tuesday September 1, 2009 attended a religious ceremony in Kathmandu to inaugurate the week long Srimad Bhagwat Mahapuran.

“I am feeling awkward, the attending mass may also feel strange due to my presence in a religious gathering here”, he said adding, “Generally, I do not participate in the programs where Bells are ringing and Conch Shells make sound”

“However, do not take the Maoist Party as an atheist party”, further added Prachanda.

“Until I passed high school, I used to regularly worship Panchayan”, said Maoists’ Party chairman Dahal, who is a Brahmin by birth.

A Brahmin finally admits that he was a Brahmin.

Dahal also claimed that weapons were not enough to change the mindset of the general public.

He added, “If we would have tried to change public mindset only through weapons then we would not have become the largest party in the Constituent Assembly”.

“I respect all the religion”, said Prachanda.

The weeklong religions ceremony is organized to support the Bal-uddhar Higher Secondary School, Kapan, Kathmandu.

“I will try to support the school”, he said adding, “The support will grow in future, as we are all set to form our own government.”

How can anyone who considers Mao as God be an atheist?

Commented by Chote Lal - September 2, 2009 @ 9:55 PM

If he is not an atheist, Prachanda knows that Prahbhakaran is waiting for him in hell; we can oblige him by making his journey from this world that much more speedy. The only thing we ask is that Prachanda and his toadies should opt soonest for an urban revolt. We have you in our sights and what happened to Allende in Chile will be a merciful exit by comparison to what's in store for Prachanda's lot. Just don't change your minds comrades - now go for your revolt.

Maoist won several seats because of their ability to influence minds of people is completely false. Fighting and killing all those who didn't agree with Maoist views, all these years, trained them on how to spread terror and win votes. So please don't get fooled by what Prachanda says. It wasn't victory of their ideology, it was victory of their terror.

Oo..so now you believe in God ! look what you have done to this beautiful country ...all in the name of people and its supremacy ! You have divided the people so you and your filthy principals can prevail in Nepal. You and YCL brats are the most hated. May the PLA never be integrated, may it back fired against you. You killed my friends fiancee during war and we have seen the sorrow with our own eyes of having to lose someone dear . What was that for? TO take the country back into hell hole and dungeon. Prachanda, no son of nepali will be able to breath and live in this country.

As an atheist myself - I'm rather offended that people try to associate the actions of this man with atheism. Whether or not he believes in a god has nothing to do with his wretched life. Just look around - some atheists do good things, some do bad things. It's no different than with theists. Religious beliefs are not necessarily at the root of a person's actions.
