Gacchedhar threatens to quit if Maoists inducted in Nepal-Govt.
Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gacchedhar, a former congressman currently leading the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Lokatantrik, said in a determined voice that he will give up the post of the deputy prime minister of the country if the Unified CPN-Maoists were inducted in the incumbent United Marxist Leninists’ Party led government.
Addressing a program in Kathmandu, August 29 2009, Gacchedhar sought the necessity of forming a national government to draft the new Nepal constitution on time.
“Without the national government, Constitution as per the people's aspiration cannot be drafted on time however, I am ready to give up my cabinet post for this purpose if needed but wouldn’t accept the Maoists inclusion in the current cabinet”, he said.
