Army-Militia Integration Impossible: Nepal Army Official

TGW

One of the high ranking officers of the Nepal Army has said that the Maoists’ Militia integration into the Nepal Army was an impossible proposition.

Addressing a seminar in Kathmandu, Thursday August 27, 2009, Lt. General Pawan Jung Pandey, Chief of the Directorate of the Military Intelligence of the Nepal Army had made these remarks.

“The Nepal Army will not accept the South African model of Army Integration”, said General Pandey adding, “The image of the South African Army is at the lowest because of the integration with the rebels.”

Similarly, Retd Lt. General Chitra Bahadur Gurung told point blank that the Nepal Army even do not want to listen to the talk of integration with the maoist militias.

Gurung’s fiery remark came in reply to the idea raised by Barsa Man Pun alias Ananta, in-charge of the Maoists’ party Military wing, that Nepal should adopt the South African model  to carry out the integration between the State and the rebel armies.

Said Gurung, the entire world was behind Nelson Mandela while the integration process was being carried out there whereas Nepali situation stands at an entirely different plane.

Revealed the Peace Minister, Rakam Chemjong, addressing the program that the government will soon oust the four thousand disqualified militias from the cantonments. Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat told that in case the integration takes place, the country will not get the constitution.

The seminar was organized by Nepal Policy Study Center.

Army integration will not take place in Nepal in such a uncertainty and Nepali people will have to get suffered in near future due to the foolishness of so called political parties. From another side, half done work is very dangerous for both Maoist and political parties. Either PLA fighters should be finished or PLA fighther should capture the state. Otherwise there will be uncertainty in the nation. 21st century's democratic concept which Com. Prachanda is leading will bring no sense because the day which has begun shows it's failure clearly. If Moist party wants to betray Nepali people then they should throw the tag "Maoist" and they should act as per the parliamentarians' way. They have dropped the revolutionary concept and now they are fighting for nothing. Those PLA fighters who are confined in the cantonments should leave the barracks and go back home or join revolutionary communist organization which is likely to be leaded by Matrika. Maoist party led by Prachanda has betrayed the poor people. NA officials are true because there will be no any merger of these two armies or the nation will have to plunged into serious darkness in comming days.

There should be no integration between the PLA and Nepal Army. PLA was engaged entirely on terrorism whereas Nepal Army tried to defend the people and the nation from those terrorists. PLA is lucky that they will be freed and given every opportunity to do what they like e.g. going to school, going abroad for the job, or looking other alternatives. Those who made PLA acting like terrorists must be punished. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Babu Ram Bhattarai, Ram Bahadur Thapa and many others must be taken into custody and put into trial immediately. Nepal Army is the hope for all Nepalese. Bishal Shah

why not just open the gate and let the combatants choose what they want to do. they were forcefully made to fight for maoists anyway. may be they just want to go home, go to school, take job ... give them real freedom.

These maoist never ever joined the nepal army. COAS must stay in strong position against these PLA itergration into nepal army. If some PLA maoiost PLA will enter the true nepal army and then there will be big probles within the chain of command soon. COAS Mr. Chatraaman Gurung must reject this Goverment intergration talks at any cost to save your all true nepal army in the history of nepal army. COAS must be strong to save your national army. PLA is a private wing of maoist party and this is a polital party at this time. Becareful in a right time.

An Absolute truth. There cannot be any Maoist combatants integrated into the NA for the safety of the Nepalese Citizen. Any lay man can imagine the hidden truth behind the integration, which is to start a commotion in the NA and divide the army so that the Maoist can have there control. This is the 21 century and we cannot allow the Maoist ideology to ruin Nepal. One can see what Nepal has been transformed to after the so called republic system.Anarchy, insecurity, price hike, Chaos. These were what the Maoist wanted to bring in the name of civilian supremecy. This time round if there is a conflict between the Nepalese people and Maoist, the so called leaders of the Maoist cannot be spared. These are the viruses who have managed to ruin the heart and soul of the innocent Nepalese of the hills and in this equation some foreigner and foreign organization have contributed in sowing the seeds of evil.

Mr Pande is right. The very professional SA Army after integration has lost her image of being a professional army. Today, only the fools like Barsaman Pun think that SA Army is professional and the model of their reintegration is suitable for Nepal. Sorry BM Pun... Stop dreaming and better find a workable solution to safeland the innocent nepali brothers and sisters whom you handful of selfish leaders incited to home into your personal gains and selfish motives. You guilty criminals will be prosecuted by the Nepali brothers and sisters who are struggling to survive in the prison camp ‘The Cantonment’.
