Nepal Maoist threaten Revolt, State Capture: Sunday Mass meets

TGW

The wounded Maoists party had organized huge rallies in major centers of the country, on Sunday May 17, 2009. The rallies later converged into mass-meets wherein the Maoists leaders mostly criticized their political opponents. President of the Republic Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal- the UML leader who in all likelihood is to lead the country as the next prime minister- were the Maoists’ major targets.

Caretaker Prime Minister and the Maoists party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal addressing a sea of Maoists cadre in Kathmandu repeatedly called the UML and the Nepali Congress as the agents of the foreign Gods.

“As per the dictates of their foreign masters, the dejected and rejected UML and NC leaders are forming the next government”, said a pretty annoyed Dahal.

“Their heads will be always down as they have surrendered to their foreign masters, we have resigned but yet our heads will always be up”, said Dahal.

Addressing the Nepalgunj gathering, the Maoists Party Central Secretariat member Mr. Chandra Prakash Gajurel said that his party will now take on the path to conclude the incomplete decade long rebellion led by his party.

“Out from the government is an opportunity for us to complete the revolution, President Ram Baran Yadav has given the Maoists the golden opportunity to bring the revolution to an end through Peoples’ Uprising III”, he said adding “Gyanendra gave us the opportunity to wage Peepholes’ Uprising II”.

“Now we will capture the State, which is the prime objective of the Maoist party,” Mr. Gajurel told while addressing a gathering in Nepalgunj, May 17, 2009.

Similarly, addressing a mass-meet in Biratnagar on Sunday, Mr. Narayan Kaji Shrestha Prakash- Maoists party leader, alleged that Madhav Nepal-a senior UML leader, was an Indian agent.

“Mr. Nepal is being lifted to the seat of the prime minister as per the dictates of his Indian masters”, said Mr. Prakash.

Lila Mani Pokharel, another Maoists leader in Dhangadi threatened to grab the UNMIN monitored weapons housed in the cantonments now.

“If the reactionary move continues, we may have to finally grab our weapons”, said Pokharel.
“The Maoists were very simple when they were in the government, out of the government we have become dangerous”, also said Pokharel.

There is no point of comparing maoists and the LTTE relating to the truth that both waged guns.Maoists bore guns to end the prehistoric feudal structure of the society and we all know what changes they have brought for the country.I am not a blind maoist sympathizer but i tell all those commenting rubbish here to think before they write.Maoists brought the idea of social reforms in the remote villages in nepal.I have no doubts that even the most illiterate person in our country has a say out of his awareness. If any one think that nepal can move ahead with the old and corrupted congress in place, thats nothing short of a day dreaming..lets see wat the Makune government does other than the fulfillment of the ardous task of making the next to be PM's dream come true.

I tend to agree with Karan that for national socio-political unity and independence; territorial integrity, and sovereignty the Monarchy must be restored NOW.But will the Maoists accept its restoration? Yes, Dr Babu Ram Bhattrai did think it may be worhtwhile as a "ceremonial head of state". Perhaps it's time for the Maoists to revisit this idea to keep the peace process afloat. If this idea takes shape, then, Maoists can again lead the government of national unity and move to have a parliamentary system of governnance with direct election of the Prime Minsiter, who will rule for say 7 years without let or hindrance by Parliament except that s/he may be impeached for gross misconduct. Acepting the nature of the above 2 national institutions, as proposed here, then Nepal can design its own home-grown system of governance to gurantee democracy, human rights, people's particpation at the grass roots through maximum devolution of state power to local communities to avoid exclsuion; also the independence of media, judiciary, and security agencies; protection of the rule of law etc. No need to borrow from UK , France, Switzerland or India. Nepal should also move to have itself recognized internationally as a Zone of Peace as propounded by King Birendra and accepted by no less than l15 nations--except India. In this scenario, there will be no problem of integration of the PLA into the Nepal Army, especially with the re-instituionalization of the National Security Council as the supreme body to define the long-term national interest of Nepal on the basis of national dialogue, debate and consensus.

Arrest the maoist leadership before they bring the country to ruin.

Maoists must take a lessons from demise of LTTE (Prabhakaran has been killed already), we are living in 21st century, armed revolts may provide them with short-term gain, but in the long run they will be real loosers.

There is no doubt Unified CPN (Maoist) will capture the Pahad and Tarai terror groups could capture the Tarai region and people always victimize the blood bath. The main trouble was crerated by major political parties of Nepal. They were thinking when finish monarchical institution then everything goes fine that is why they (major political parties) accept the road map of Maoist. But now same line should be accept themselves. One proverb is true PAP DHURI BAT KARAUCHHA. In any way in any cost monarchical institution was not so bad, that is why if political parties were good knowldege of political culture and history they would give some space to monarchical institution but they became more dectators like Jung Bahadur. In any way instability situation of Nepal was created by Congress and UML. Still political parties could correct their past mistakes, that is why they should restablish the monarchical institution as basis of cultural and religious aspects.
