Private schools in Nepal will be nationalized: FM Dr. Bhattarai

TGW

Nepal’s Private Schools will be gradually nationalized announced finance minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai on Thursday.

“I thank the private investors for their past support by investing in the education sector but I would like to tell them to look for other alternatives as education sector from now on will be taken care by the Government itself”.

“The government is committed to provide equal education for all the citizens and I request the private sector to establish universities of the likes of Oxford and Harvard right here in Nepal.”

“The present budget allocation of 39 Billion in the education sector is clearly inadequate”, said the finance minister adding “we are in contact with the World Bank seeking their Grant-Support to invest in this vital sector”.

“We are in the process of legalizing the skill and the knowledge of the Maoists’ militias acquired during the decade long rebellion.”

Dr. Bhattarai made these remarks at a program organized by the Maoists’ affiliated Revolutionary Student’s organization in the capital.

Dr Bhattarai's opinions to nationalize the private schools seem great! Let's see how the government implement and how long does it take? It's a difficult task to nationalize the private schools. Indeed, we need to appreciate Dr Bhattarai's opinions.

Education and health sectors are to be fully taken care of government,is certainly a neeeded and welcomed step and if government is stepping towards that direct then one must not be hesitated to appreciate the same. But prior to doing all those properly and planned way, there must not be closed private schools and imposed any additional tax. And,the policy to hundred percent nationalising the private schools also not a wise and pragmatic step, that is why there should be some standard private schools in some minimal numbers.
