Maoists agree for "Constitutional President"

TGW

A three party meeting between the UML, Nepali Congress and the Maoists leadership, called at the PM’s official residence in Kathmandu today has ended.

Jhala Nath Khanal, the UML General Secretary later talking to the journalists assured that Nepal will be declared a republic by the first meet of the CA scheduled for tomorrow, May 28, 2008.

“The leaders also agreed to the list of nomination of the 26 CA members from the prime minister’s quota. The swearing in ceremony of the CA members will take place today”, Mr Khanal said.

However, earlier reports coming from the Maoists camp indicated that the Maoist central Committee meeting held this morning, May 27, 2008, had decided not to be a part of the government unless an agreement is reached between the party leaders to declare comrade Prachanda as the country’s first president. The CC meeting was called at Comrade Prachanda’s residence in Naya Bazaar.

The meeting had also rejected the NC and UML proposal for the amendment of the interim constitution to incorporate the provision for the ouster of the prime minister by a 1/3rd simple majority votes which will do away with the two-third provision which is now in place.

Since the Maoist party was mandated by Nepali people she should be in control to pave the way of new Nepal. If GP Koirala or other old opportunists come in power nothing will change! Specially GP Koirala should go to Aryaghat instead of disturbing to people who wish to move forward. All Nepalis know that GP Koirala wishes to die in Baluwatar. But it is not possible he is a useless old man and should stop obstructing they way. Specially old politicians of the past Nepalis saw how they are corrupted and will do nothing for the country. Nepalis wish to see how the Maoists go about building new Nepal. If the Maoists fail then Nepalis have to think very carefully and start third revolution. On third revolution no politicians should be remained. That is the only solution for Nepal. All chamches, mandales and corrupted politicians should be cleared out for once and for all.

It is really fanatastic that one of the major hurdle have been overcome and we all hope that rest will move smoothly. Girija's dream of Ceremonial President and Maoist's dream of leading the Government have finally materialized. Good luck.

The decision of the Central Committee of the Maoists is absolutely correct. Maoists are the victorious in the CA. They have people's mandate. Its decision not to allow Girija Prasad Koirala, the most inefficient politician of Nepal of all times, to become Nepal's President is absolutely correct. GP Koirala has already became senile. His mental condition is unstable. His speeches and all other activities show him as just the power monger who has no moral values and democratic culture at all. GP Koirala should be ousted. Likewise, UML under Jhala Nath Khanal, from the very first day began to oppose Maoists and undermine the people's mandate. Nepali Congress and UML has a tacit agreement against the Maoists. These corrupt parties are trying to capture state power to finish off Maoists. They have already decided to share all political portfolios among themselves. As per the agreement Girija Prasad is looking for the Presidential position whereas Madhav Nepal is for the Vice-President. Both of them were already rejected by the Nepali people. Maosist must lead the Nepal Government. Prachanda or Dr. Bhattarai or anyone belonging to its party must become Prime Minister who should also enjoy the status of the Acting Head of State. Present system of governance should be in place until the new constitution is drafted and ratified by the people through the referendum. Nepal should say no to thugs like GP Koirala and Madhav Nepal, both Indian agents. Chyantebhunte, Thapathali, Kathmandu. chyantebhunte@yahoo.com

Political polarization is not there as yet. To remind you, the Maoists have come only after a people’s war but not the rest of the political parties. It could be this factor which may have brought or to come to surface certain differences with the Maoists over some political issues. More..
