K.P. Sharma Oli an influential United Marxist Leninist Leader met with the President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Monday April 20, 2009.

After meeting the President Mr. Oli talking to journalists commenting on the fresh government decision to seek explanation from the Chief of the Army, Mr. Rookmanagad Katawal said that the government’s decision was an example of the Maoists’ mal-intent to interfere in the Nepal Army.

“I have never seen Maoist’s doing well to the country however they are doing everything that bodes ill for the country”, Oli said.

Mr. Oli’s remarks were in sharp contrast to a statement made by the party general secretary Mr. Ishwor Pokharel.

Mr. Pokharel was of the opinion that the government’s decision was a normal one.

“It was completely normal for the government to seek clarification form the Chief of the Army Staff as the Nepal Army was also under the government’s supervision”, Pokharel had said.

To add, reports say that the UML leader Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal and Home Minister Mr. Bam Dev Gautam are to meet President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav separately today Tuesday April 21, 2009, to discuss the issue.

In the mean time, Indian ambassador to Nepal Mr. Rakesh Sood also met with the Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal and discussed possible outcome of the government’s decision.
