The Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel opines that holding local level election without setting up the federal setup is meaningless.

“The country has already been endorsed as a federal state”, he reminded referring to the newly promulgated constitution and questioned the motive of the government, “What is the need for holding local level election as per the earlier setup”

“There is absolutely no relevance of the local level election declared by the government”, he said.

“Election at the village level and municipal level must be held as per the new federal setup”, he added addressing a press interaction in Nawalparasi district.

Poudel also claimed that his party had successfully led the constitution drafting process and the implementation part of the constitution will see the Nepali Congress leading from the front.

He also claimed that the Nepali Congress will also play a mediatory role between the agitating Madhesi parties and the government to resolve their disputes.

“We will provide the country with an outlet from the current political mess”, he stressed.
