Telegraph Nepal

“The President has made a highly unconstitutional statement by exercising unconstitutional power. It is a political coup by all means.”

“He could have issued a soft statement appealing political parties for consensus. However, he has issued a strong statement by referring to constitutional clauses and sent a letter even to the chief secretary. This is the indication of a forthcoming dangerous move from the President.”

“Some forces are using the President to derail the entire constitutional process,” said Poudel adding, “No other government under the prevailing constitutional provisions could be considered legal than the one presently being led by Prime Minister Baburam.”

Addressing the same program, Secretary Dev Gurung of Nepal Communist Party-Maoist also opined that the President’s move could be taken as a positive one on political ground but it could eventually invite severe constitutional crisis.
