Nepal: Concerned Prez meets party leaders, results cipher

Telegraph Nepal

Analysts fear that if the dust-bin political parties continue to add misery and frustration to the ceremonial Nepal President then one fine morning he may prefer to resign summarily from his current hot seat. Analysts mean it. After all he too is a simple human being.

However, he will never do that for obvious political and available facility-reasons that he is definitely enjoying from the State coffer for “no job”.

As if he is really concerned as regards the affairs of the State, Dr. Yadav though on a regular basis invites the redundant and defunct leaders who have brought the nation to this sorry state and offers his “wise counsels” hoping against hope that the failed ones will finally come to terms so that his chair remains secure for the rest of the period that is left with him. This is his duty towards the nation. Lip service is free.

Sunday, October 28, 2012, the President once again paid lip service by inviting Chairman Khanal, Sushil Koirala and Maoists leader ( freshly joined) Narayan Kaji Shrestha and told them to find a common ground soon in order to relieve the country from the approaching political and economic disaster. Fine. He has, to recall, already met with Chairman Dahal and election defeated Madhav Nepal.

However, as usual, the stinking leaders, as the Nepalese have begun to see them sorry to say, told the President their own versions which must have increased the President’s blood pressure.

The Maoists told the President that “let’s first revive the CA body and promulgate the constitution”.

The Nepali Congress and the UML told the President that “let’s first have the formation of a national unity government and then face the upcoming polls”.

“I told Dr. Yadav that there was no alternative to consensus, however, the Maoists ignore our proposal”, so said Khanal to the media upon meeting the President.

According to Khanal, he is supposed to have point blank told the President that the NC together with the UML will soon initiate a movement against the BRB government simply because the Maoists appear to linger the tenure of the life of the government led by Bhattarai”.

People and the President will surely entertain from the upcoming Tamasha.

Talks will have no positive impact or whatsoever unless the Maoists agree for the formation of a new national unity government, added Khanal.

The talks with the President must have received a great jolt when Maoists veteran Narayan Kaji Shrestha suggested the President that his party preferred the revival of the now dead CA body and later for the purpose of conduct of the election, a national unity government could be formed.

The President albeit did his duties well in that he told the high flying leaders converged at his Palace that he was just a facilitator in pressing the parties to forge consensus.

Modesty this.

To recall, the NC and the UML in an implied manner have of late been excessively pressurizing the lame duck President to sack the incumbent Nepal PM Dr. Bhattarai.

That would be an unconstitutional step, analysts presume.

The President understands it better as to what would happen next to his own chair if he dares to take any such steps against the Maoists. The Sandy blizzard will soon enter Nepal then.

In the meanwhile, a high profile Banker too has in an indirect manner urged the Nepal President to transform himself into a “liberal dictator”. What a joke?A dictator can't be liberal as per the definition available in the books of Political Science.

Easier said than done Mr. Banker.

Thus the talks are on. President perhaps has awarded time for forging consensus till Tihar festivals which is highly likely that it would extend up to Chhath and then after the winter seasons. By then the country will collapse economically. The crisis is approaching fast.

Brilliant and duty bound sons of mother Nepal.  No more tears in her eyes now.
