Nepal: Maoists Chief now demands election of President itself

Telegraph Nepal

With Nepal’s opposition parties Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninist ridiculing ruling Unified Maoist Party’s stand in favor of reviving the dead constituent assembly, the Maoists leaders have made it clear that present government led by Baburam Bhattarai will continue as the election government.

Happy Dashami to NC and the UML. What else more?

Further, in the meeting with President Sushil Koirala of Nepali Congress, Chairman Pushpa Kamal and Prime Minister Baburam, October 18, 2012, demanded presidential election.

This must have scared the President from within.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal was of the view that with the dissolution of the constituent assembly, the term of the current president too has expired.

Sense logic.

“Prior drafting the constitution Presidential election should also be held,” Dahal told Koirala.

Later talking to the media Sushil said, “I asked Prachanda why he keeps on changing his stands. Why he continues to make contradictory remarks? Why he has been demanding CA revival after he assured us that he too was in favor of election? He is only interested in passing time with no result. I told him point blank that today the nation is suffering due to his conflicting activities.”

Who cares?

Dahal in the meeting also asked Sushil to join the present government led by Baburam to support the government in holding election.

“Under no circumstances we will join this government. We will not allow Maoists to hold the election. It is NC’s turn to lead”, Koirala told the media.

Chairman Dahal also talked to the media. He said, “Nepali Congress government only after Constitution, election under Maoists government. This is the bottom-line.”

Caps the possibility of a NC led government.

“As far as Presidential election is concerned they might have forwarded it as a part of their conspiracy to foil the prospect of election. It is irrelevant to talk of the Presidential election at this moment.”

KUSHMANDA Bhavani ley President ko Rakshya garun.

  • NC has so far been trying to confuse Prachanda and win over him but now the scene is changing ! Prachanda feels he is no more obliged to please them any more.He has adopted the path of NC ie come out with fresh ideas! NC had a long list of never ending points to counter the Maoists. They never came out in one go but continued on and on in instalments.Let us see how NC counters?
