Madhav Nepal claims Maoists are secessionists, to visit Japan shortly

Madhav Kumar Nepal claims that Unified Maoists Party leaders are secessionists. He said else the Maoists would not have lobbied for federalism based on single-ethnicity in a society that is inherently multi-ethnic and multi-cultural.

“Ours is a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society. The Maoists idea of federalism based on single-ethnicity not only threaten Nepal’s sovereignty and independence but will ultimately lead to secession”, claimed the senior United Marxist Leninist leader at a tea party in Kathmandu, October 18, 2012.

“The Maoists have spread the idea for right to self-determination and federalism based on single-ethnicity. These have already created environment for communal discord and paved way for secession”.

Nepal also said that his party was not in favor of supporting present government led by Baburam Bhattarai.

Also present at the program was party general secretary Ishwar Pokharel.

By the way, Mr. Nepal is once again visiting Japan. It must have been a free trip.
