Nepal: NC favors defending identity of ethnic groups claims Poudel

The Nepali Congress’ ideology is primarily based on pluralism whereas we are labeled as anti-ethnic, the communists mainly, the Unified Maoists are non-pluralist on ideological grounds while they have presented themselves as the messiah of ethnic identity, so said Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress while addressing a press meet in Syangja, October 16, 2012.

“Isn’t it hilarious that Prachanda and Baburam call themselves the messiah of ethnic identity,” he claimed.

The press meet was organized by local Nepal Press Union.

He also clarified that the Nepali Congress has always been in favor of preserving identity of each and every ethnic community.

“Baburam is presently leading the government. He is the same person who had forwarded those 40 point demands and carried out violence and bloodshed in the country for over a decade. Not even a single demand among those 40 points has Baburam been able to fulfill. This tells all about his double standard.”

Poudel perhaps doesn’t understand as to where those 40 point demands were drafted? Several election defeats has made Poudel a frustrated political persona. Analysts sympathise.
