Nepal: NC party sans policy and ideologies, blames KB Gurung

Telegraph Nepal

Very bad and sad news for the entire Nepali Congress paraphernalia.

It is both sad and bad simply because one of the surviving eldest but yet honest NC leader Kul Bahadur Gurung just the other day opined, ( to be precise on October 13, 2012), which was loaded with warning indeed, that his party had already deviated from the structured policies and ideologies.

The NC veteran in the process criticized his own party’s central command.

According to NC leader Mr. Gurung, his party’s leadership is currently busy in occupying the Chair of the next Nepal PM and thus in the process they have abandoned the party’s policies as had been enunciated first by visionary leader late B. P. Koirala.

He goes on to say that it was this race for grabbing the Prime Ministerial post which may eventually bring an end to party’s very existence.

Blunt allegations indeed but insiders of the NC say that Mr. Gurung was talking sense and correct.

Mr. Gurung made these observations while addressing a gathering of NC men at a talk program entitled “Nepali nationalism and BP”.

“I don’t see good omen for the party because of late the party leaders appear more than divided on several line of thoughts which is very bad for the entire party”, Gurung observed.

As if this were not enough, Mr. Gurung even claimed that the NC sans any ideology or policy as such of its own.

More sweltering attack followed when Gurung brusquely stated that the NC has now become a party which only obeys to the instructions of the Maoists.

“Such practices have exposed the NC’s functioning pattern”, Gurung continued.

Summing up the performances and the acts of his own party, Gurung said that the NC has become just like how a pet dog is summoned by his master and scolded to keep the dog out of the room. (This is just by implication and the literal translation)

(He has used the words like Chei Chei- a derogatory word in essence).  (Read the Naya Patrika daily October 14, 2012, for details).

Such has been the reality now existing inside the Nepali Congress.

“Nepali nationalism is under grave threat and the NC party must now concentrate its entire efforts, top-down-in order to preserve the very existence of the nation-state”, declared Gurung.

He must have been in a tensed mood expectedly.

Gurung currently heads the National Society for BP’s thoughts.

On the occasion, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Dhungel and Dr. Bipin Adhikari also spoke on the waning Nepali nationalism.

Perhaps Gurung is in favor of reviving BP's reconciliation theory.

  • His words must be taken by the NC as a gospel truth. Never mind if you are not a christian, meaning behind the proverb should be taken as such.
