Nepal: Tensed President warns parties, says act fast or face music

President Ram Baran has threatened political parties that he will not remain a mere onlooker if they (the parties) do not reach to consensus within three days. Yes, before Asoj 30, 2069!

Addressing the 60th Founding Day of Nepal Chamber of Commerce in Kathmandu, October 13, 2012, President Ram Baran also claimed that the political parties have been a ‘failure’ so far as they have failed in forging unity among themselves.

Hoping against hope.

“I have been reiterating for consensus but they have been ignoring,” Yadav complained.

“We need date for fresh election and a new constitution,” he continued, “I have taken oath to abide by and protect the interim constitution. What should I do? Do I have to save the country first or only pay homage to the constitution?”

The mood is changing. Achtung!

Under what compelling circumstances had the former King taken over the rule of the country the president must have understood by now, critics quip and comment, they are virtually the same bunch of failed political leadership except addition of Maoists- the one with June 2002 Maoists-India Treaty fame.

The same rotten eggs with some addition.    

Tussle between ‘failed’ political parties mainly the Unified Maoists and the ‘feeble President’ that were both raised to power by the same extraneous power will be interesting to watch in the days ahead.

Is NOIDA listening? However, what is for sure is that if and when the President takes any steps against the ruling set up, the latter will spare no effort in destabilizing the President.

Nepal Army is thus advised to tighten its belts.
