Nepal: NC doesn’t accept ethnicity based federalism says Arjun K. C

Arjun Nar Singh K.C. of Nepali Congress while addressing a program in Bahuni of Morang District termed Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Unified Maoists’ idea for the revival of the constituent assembly as a jocular one.

“The demand for CA revival goes against peoples’ wishes and the Supreme Court ruling. There is no alternative to go in for fresh polls”, said K.C. and added, “Having failed to draft the constitution in four years, it is jocular to claim that the constitution will be drafted within a week after Constituent Assembly revived.”

Not only a joke but would be a matter of international shame.

It is in the larger interest of the country and people to abide by the Supreme Court ruling and declare fresh election, he said.

K.C. also claimed that ethnicity based federalism will certainly disintegrate the country.

“The Nepali Congress does not accept federalism based on ethnicity that is aimed at disintegrating the country”, he said.
