Nepal: Poudel prefers institutionalization of new order

Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress is of the view that rather than taking part in the prime ministerial race, Nepali Congress should give priority to institutionalizing the newly established federal democratic and republican order in the country.

Brilliant proposition.

“Our priority should be to protect the republican order than fighting for the Prime Ministerial post,” said Poudel.

At a meeting convened by Ram Chandra Poudel October 8, 2012, to garner support in favor of reviving the constituent assembly present also was senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The meeting participants however, heavily criticized the party leadership for supporting conspiracy being hatched Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Unified Maoists to revive the constituent assembly.

The attendants also claimed that time and again Nepali Congress has fallen prey to ‘Prachanda conspiracy’ thus the present sorry state of the party.

Delayed realization.

They claimed that Prachanda conspiracy is to prolong the term of his party government though the revival agenda.

Poudel then kept stoic silence.

Leader Ram Saran Mahat said, “Enough is enough. We can no longer trust Prachanda. The Nepali Congress should not support another Prachanda conspiracy.”

“Even if CA is revived under Prachanda conspiracy the constitution drafting process will not be complete,” said Amod Prasad Upadhyaya.

“Our cadres very much want our party to work in favor of country and people,” said Dip Kumar Upadhyaya.

Some 50 former CA members representing the party were present at the meeting.
