A day after holding ‘fruitful talks’ with Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of Unified Maoists at his private residence in Kathmandu, President Sushil Koirala of Nepali Congress while addressing a program in Dhading Besi of Dhading, October 7, 2012, claimed that the Maoists are still an untrustworthy lot.
Chairman Dahal perhaps has the skill of fooling others. Kudos.
“In the last six years we have had several agreements with the Maoists. Those agreements led to no tangible results. Thus, the Maoists cannot still be trusted.”
But isn’t that the NC brought the Maoists from NOIDA quarters?
“Prachanda whenever meets a political actor he offers them the prime ministerial post. I no longer trust Prachanda. I also advise my friends not to take him seriously.”
Fixing the nail right on the head.
Perhaps in the meeting held between the two a day before Dahal had offered Koirala with the PM post.
“It is nothing but a political dishonesty to claim that NC will be awarded with the government leadership if we accept to revive the dead constituent assembly”, so said Sushil Koirala.
Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was also present at the program.
“The Maoists may have joined the peace process but they have failed to transform themselves,” opined Deuba.
“The death of 17 thousand innocent civilians in the name of the so-called peoples’ revolt went to the dogs. It has become wide and clear now that there was no relevance to the revolt,” he also said.
“Now that Baburam is the prime minster of the country, I challenge him to fulfill one among the 40 point demands that he had demanded from me when I was the Nepal PM”, said Deuba.
Party vice chairman Ram Chandra Poudel too made his views at the program. In all the three leaders only criticized the Unified Maoists party.
