Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Unified Maoists has denied handing over power to the Nepali Congress.

He said this while addressing a program in Pokhara, September 24, 2012, that “Indeed parties had discussed possibility to allow Nepali Congress lead the national unity government but Nepali Congress may not be allowed to lead the government anymore. Any of the parties could lead the government.”

“I am confident that sooner than later consensus government will takeover but I am not sure who will lead the next government”, he added.
“Talks between parties have begun with a positive note. We are yet to finalize who will lead the next government.”
