Nepal ex-King intervenes, former Pancha parties to unite soon

Telegraph Nepal

The issue of revival of institution of monarchy has once again proved to be a major setback in the unity between parties of former panchas.

Whereas Chairman Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) -Nepal has remained firm on his agenda for the revival of institution of monarchy, Surya B. Thapa led Rastriya Janashakti Party and Pashupati Rana led RPP have been claiming that since monarchy is limited in the pages of history they cannot accept the revival demand.

The three parties have however, agreed to amalgamate the party under the name of RPP and the party steering committee shall comprise of three chairmen.

RPP-Nepal chairman have been urging the rest of the parties to decide monarchy’s fate through the party general assembly.

However, high placed sources have claimed that now sidelined King himself has urged all the former Panchas to forge unity at the earliest. The parties have now decided to unite first and push their agenda (Republic or Monarchy) at the General Convention which will decide the fate of the monarchy.

The former King prefers the formation of a Broader Nationalist Front, claims Rajdhani daily dated August 28, 2012.

  • Finally a light bulb has switched on in the heads of these three idiots. Unite and you can do well in elections. Disband and it may be finito for you all. Congress is a dead donkey, UML is the "old Maoists party" and past it's sell by date, and the maoists themselves have split and will get more broken up as time goes on. This is the opportunity to strike and strike hard. People are fed up of these hypocritcal Brahmins in the guise of democrats and communists!
