Said Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Sri Jayant Prasad Srivastav while addressing a program in Dhulikhel of Kavre District, August 16, 2012, that “Indian government has always been in favor of prosperity, development and stability of its neighbors.”
Jokes in series. Brajesh Mishra will surely bite his tongue.
With India’s tacit linkages with the then terrorist declared Nepal’s Maoists now standing exposed, the Indian ambassador should have quietly sneaked out from the host country rather than defending India’s dubious stand regarding its neighbors, claim critics.
Recall, June India-Maoists June 2002 Treaty.
He added at the program organized to celebrate India’s 66th Independence Day, “India will always provide a helping hand towards Nepal’s independence (swadhinta) and affluence.” Boldai Ma K bigrancha ni?
By the way, the bitter fact is that majority of Nepali citizens feel that India itself is a major threat to Nepal’s sovereignty and independence.
But, said His Excellency Prasad, “there are enormous challenges to Nepal’s prosperity and development thus there is no alternative to unity between Nepal’s political parties”. True!
Another bitter allegation that India faces in Nepal is that it is India that keeps Nepal’s political parties at bay to keep Nepal destabilized.
Experienced truth.
To end the transitional period, suggested Prasad, peace and constitutional processes must be completed at the earliest. Very true!
