Nepal Politics takes a juicy twist, FDR Alliance formed with a big bang

Telegraph Nepal

Led by Chairman Puhpa Kamal Dahal of Unified Maoists Party, an alliance between supporters of ‘ethnicity based federal model’ has been formally declared in Kathmandu, August 15, 2012.

The alliance called as ‘Federal Democratic Republican Alliance’ constitutes 20 parties among 33 represented in the dissolved constituent assembly.

Politics now begins in New Nepal in earnest.

The alliance was declared at a five star hotel in Kathmandu.

Big bang must be honored.

Addressing at the program Dahal made it clear that the prime objective of the alliance is to forcefully push the agenda of identity based federalism and to draft a constitution with federal states.

“The alliance is aimed at defeating the traditional forces such as Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninist. We will emerge with flying colors eventually,” said Dahal who was earlier in the day appointed chairman of the alliance.

The common minimum program, slogans and charter of the alliance has also been made public.

“With the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly, the constitution drafting process took a back seat. We only held discussions during four years term of the constituent assembly. The constitution drafting process became even more complicated,” Dahal claimed and added, “Thus political forces that are in favor of ethnicity based federalism, support forward looking changes in the state structure and are in favor of drafting constitution through constituent assembly have joined their hands.”

“The alliance will try to settle disputes between parties in the overall political process. Our objective is to fulfill all the wishes of the general public,” he said and added, “If needed the alliance will continue until fresh elections.”

“Our objective is to hold another round of CA election. We will draft the constitution being based on agreements reached between parties in the last four years period. After promulgating the constitution, the constituent assembly will take the role of the parliament. The second option we propose is the revival of the constituent assembly. The revived CA will continue until constitution is promulgated and then parliamentary election could be held.”

Dahal during his speech looked in an attacking mood towards Nepali Congress’s frail President Sushil Koirala.

A fresh bid to wipe out Nepali Congress after Monarchy has already been signaled.

“I am amazed to see Sushil Koirala ji acting in a highly irresponsible manner. It is because of him consensus between parties in getting difficult.”

The parties in the alliance are Forum-Loktantrik, Forum-Ganatantrik, Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party (TMLP), TMLP-Nepal, Sadvawana, Tamsaling Nepal Rastriya Dal, Sanghiya Sadvawana, Marxist Leninist-Socialist, Nepal Family Party and others.

Interesting events will follow, analysts presume.

  • It's a case of drowning pool syndrome. When things start to slide, the band of bandits join hands to cling on, the naked thrift is they never spoke for citizens, acted in behalf of a nation or welfare of it's humble people. These band of bandits will burn on their own fury of illogical, disjointed and deillusioned actions and words
