Khum Bahadur Khadka- a noted corrupt and a disciple of the so-called ‘Shikhar-Purush’ Late Girija Prasad Koirala have been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Supreme Court, August 14, 2012.
The SC honorable Justices Baidya Nath Upadhayaya and Kalyan Shrestha in their ruling asked Khadka- an influential member of ‘late Girija team’, to pay a fine of NPR 9.4 million and confiscation of his illegally amassed property worth NPR 9.4 million.
The Court ruling observed that while in power between 1990 to 2002, Khadka had earned NPR 18.3 million of which the source of NPR 9.4 million could not be verified.
The Nepali Congress youth leaders including the once ferocious Gagan Thapa has already raised question mark in the fresh SC’s verdicts where NC leaders have only been convicted on acts of corruption.
Including Khum Bahadur, other core members of Girija team, Chirinjibi Wagle, Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta and Govinda Raj Joshi are serving imprisonment for amassing property illegally.
All the Girija men will have same fate, analysts hope. Girija left for his heavenly abode, March 20, 2010. Rest in peace.
But when will the court begin the hearing of Krishna Prasad Sitaula on Sudan Darfur APC Scam? Why is the delay?
Sitaula is learnt to have gulped most of the amount earmarked for APC to be sent to Sudan.
Why the Nepali leaders speak and demand democracy is becoming clear.
